How Joan Rivers’ Possessions Represent her Personal Life
One personal item that may be the most precious of all though is a framed index card with a joke about being a grandparent that was dated a year after her daughter Melissa Rivers had a baby in 2000.
“When people say the baby got my nose I say, ‘Jokes on you, I didn’t get my nose until I was 34,'” the joke read.
Additionally, in a video with Melissa talking about her mother’s belongings, she explained that her hobby of painting was inspired by King Charles, who was prince at the time.
Later in life my mom took up painting, she loved to paint” the comedian’s daughter said in the auction’s promotional video. “In her bathroom in New York she had a little easel set up and that was how she would relax.”
Naturally though, Melissa explained that her sense of humor would make its way on to her canvas.
“The thing with my mother’s painting…she was always adding cows into things, I don’t know why, it just brought her so much happiness.”
Joan died in 2014 at age 81.
