A LOCAL artist and relative of Zayn Malik’s has told the T&A that she is hoping to get 175k for her latest artwork of King Charles.
Simone Malik, 45, from Bradford, who describes herself as “the world’s most high-profile super recogniser”, award-winning artist and author, also happens to be a relative of the international superstar Zayn Malik.
And she’s selling her latest piece of King Charles for a high price tag.
The former NHS worker is hoping her “fun, distorted experimental” mixed-media piece will bag £175,000 from a “wealthy buyer or collector.”
She adds that 80 per cent of the proceeds will go to Cancer Research UK.

I’m just pushing boundaries and testing integrity
While £175,000 might sound a lot for the A4 artwork, Miss Malik attests: “Why can’t a unique abstract painting of the King sell for £175,000?”
She adds: “If a painting with a blue line running across it can fetch millions – then why can’t a unique, abstract painting of the King sell for £175,000 – and for mainly good causes? That’s a question I pose to society. The ball is in their court. I’m just pushing boundaries and testing integrity.”
Zayn’s relative tells the T&A she was inspired to raise money for cancer research because it’s such a “devastating illness” that affects so many people worldwide, including “two of our Royal family members.”
She added that the artwork has been “created to raise awareness of this illness and to raise money but also to motivate others to raise money for this cause”.

Why King Charles?
Miss Malik says she was inspired to draw and paint King Charles as “firstly, he is our King and has a duty towards our country. That just has to be honoured by us, the public.
“Secondly, as an artist and super recogniser – I find the facial features extremely interesting. I am able to recognise a generational trait passed on in the royal family: the nose and the close set, sharp eagle like eyes.
“It’s an instantly recognisable trait. Capture those two areas – and do anything in terms of distortion to the rest of the face – you can still recognise King Charles.
“Now that’s a rare trait to have – it sets off an urge to experiment further for me – as an Artist. It’s a sort of experiment and the possibilities of creativity with this, are just endless.”

She’s even helped on the Madeleine McCann case
Previously, she had “put 110 per cent in the Madeleine McCann case” by creating sketches and more recently a 3D model of an adult McCann.
She added: “My work has been praised as remarkable by Scotland Yard retired detective Mike Neville who is also the head of Super Recognisers International. Mike developed a Super Recogniser Facial Recognition Unit at Scotland Yard.”
She also claims that a previous artwork of hers also led to the capture of a serial child killer – for which she won a prestigious Asian Women of Achievement Award in 2018.

It feeds my soul
And on being an artist representing Bradford she said: “It’s a great feeling to be a pioneer in a field, using a combination of super recognition and art, together, as both skills do not necessarily go hand in hand – and representing Bradford on an international scale.
“My work has been covered internationally too and for good causes. It’s amazing, I feel very proud to be given the chance to make a positive change to society. It feeds my soul.”
