Weston-super-Mare street art to make a comeback this summer
Street artists will return to Weston-super-Mare this summer to give the town a mural makeover. The Weston Wallz project will come back to Weston for its fourth year, adding 18 brand new large-scale artworks from local, national and international artists.
Over the past three years, 46 murals have popped up across Weston since the Weston Wallz project launched in 2021. In partnership with Weston Town Council, a range of workshops for art lovers to get involved in will be held between August 31 and September 15.
Weston Wallz is run by Upfest, Europe’s largest free street art festival. Art enthusiasts can get in on the action by participating in a number of free workshops, including introductions to spray painting.
On August 31, the SMart Paint Jam will see a diverse range of artists from across the region at the Italian Gardens for a day of live painting. Street art lovers will be able to catch the artists in action in September as they decorate the town.
Upfest co-founder, Steve Hayles, said: “We’re incredibly proud to be invited back to Weston-super-Mare this summer, it’s become a second home for the Upfest crew and expanding Weston’s collection of world-class public artworks gives us huge pleasure, not least because of the warm welcome we’ve always received from the local community.”
