The Angel Next Door’s New Artwork Features Mahiru Dressed in Summer Festival Kimono
In The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten, Mahiru serves as the main romantic interest for main protagonist Amane, who initially keeps his distance from her despite the fact that they are neighbors. One day, Amane decides to extend a kind hand to her after seeing her in distress and alone on a rainy day. Grateful for his kindness, Mahiru decides to thank him by cooking him tasty meals and keeping his apartment neat and tidy. Her caring, gracious nature makes a deep impression on Amane, and the two eventually develop romantic feelings for one another. The original light novels that inspired the anime are written by Saekisan and illustrated by Hanekoto.
Mahiru’s fan-favorite status has earned her the starring role in Kujibikido’s festival lottery. For 770 yen (US$5.23), fans will have the opportunity to win various merchandise featuring the character. Additionally, there are different rarities for each item or group of items. As shown above, one of the many highlights is a “Happi Coat” featuring the same Mahiru illustrations from the aforementioned artwork. Incidentally, this coat happens to be the rarest of the lot, with only 1 out of 100 chances to win.

Those who prefer wall decor over clothing are also in luck, since they also have the chance to take home one of three 21/2 foot-long wall tapestries, each dedicated to a different kimono-clad Mahiru. Instead of being required to win a specific version, winners are allowed to choose their favorite of the three. Some of the prizes, such as the collectible acrylic keychains and character stands, present Mahiru in chibi form. Notably, one of these designs even has her done kitsune ears and tail as a supernatural-esque shrine maiden.
The entry period for Kujibikido’s lottery will close on September 12, 2024, at 11.59 p.m. (JST). Winners will have their prizes shipped out between mid-November and early December. Season 1 of The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten anime series is available on Crunchyroll. Season 2 has been officially announced, although a release window has not yet been confirmed. The titular light novel series is available in English from Yen Press.
