Talented Banbury students to showcase artwork as part of young artists’ exhibition in Oxford
Several talented students from Banbury and Bloxham have been invited to showcase their artwork as part of the Young Art Oxford exhibition.
In total, 670 pieces of art created by children from Reception to Year 9, including homeschooled children and those with SEND, will be displayed.

This year, the young artists were asked to create pictures following a theme of ‘Little Things That Matter.’
Speaking about the exhibition, Paula Wallace, the chair of Young Art Oxford, said: “It has been a joy to see all the fantastic art created by our young artists, this year’s exhibition promises to be our best ever!
“Viewing all their pictures is a great way of stepping into their world and forgetting your own for a while. It’s wonderful that so many schools from all across Oxfordshire are taking part, including many for the first time.
“It goes to show the important role creative arts play, regardless of a child’s background.”
All funds raised from the exhibition will be donated to Young Art Oxford’s charity partner, the Rafiki Thabo Foundation, an Oxfordshire charity that provides access to education for vulnerable children in Kenya, Uganda and Lesotho.
Janne Pilbeam, the charity’s head of fundraising, said: “There is nothing more special than children helping children, and that is exactly what the school children of Oxfordshire are doing by taking part in the Young Art Oxford competition.
“Every penny raised from the exhibition will go towards paying school fees for their peers in Africa, children who otherwise would not be able to afford an education.”
The exhibition is open to the public from 10am to 5pm on both Friday and Saturday, and entry is free on both days.
Alongside the exhibition, the Rafiki Thabo Foundation and Young Art Oxford are holding an online raffle.
Tickets are £5 each, and all money will go towards providing school pupils in Uganda with meals.
