Students’ artwork displayed in Harrogate CAMHS facility

January 22, 2026 2 Mins Read

Twenty Harrogate College art students spent eight months developing the pieces now displayed throughout Hummingbird House, a new child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS) facility in Harrogate.

The project was a collaboration with Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust.

Gillian Gentle, team manager at Harrogate CAMHS, said: “The pieces are designed to create a welcoming environment with positive messages for the children, young people and families who use our services.

“They took creative inspiration from our CHIME framework – connection, hope, identity, meaning and empowerment.”

Student Liam said: “It’s really nice to see all the work and effort we’ve put in.

“Seeing all the photos I’ve taken and other people being able to enjoy them, yeah, it’s good.”

Jason, curriculum manager for creative practice and creative media at Harrogate College, added: “It’s a really important project undertaken by our college students.”

Students used drawing, watercolours, digital print, and photography to create the pieces, incorporating themes of nature such as parks, rivers and flowers.

The artwork is displayed in waiting areas, corridors, and clinic rooms.
