The earliest known artwork by rock star, Syd Barrett, the pastel and watercolour piece was crafted at his home in Cambridge in 1963, during his studies at Cambridgeshire College of Arts and Technology.
It was here he met David Gilmour, who would later join him in leading Pink Floyd to emerge as one of the most influential psychedelic rock bands of all time.
However, Barrett’s tenure with the famed band was short-lived, as personal issues led him to leave in 1968, embarking on a solo career.
Barrett’s contribution to music and Pink Floyd remains huge.
In his later years, he continued to find peace in creating art, often destroying his work upon completion.
