Nostalgia Inspired All Time Low’s New Album Artwork

All Time Low’s Alex Gaskarth revealed the inspiration behind the Everyone’s Talking! artwork.
The album, which will be released on October 17 via the band’s own imprint, Basement Noise Records, in partnership with Photo Finish Records and Virgin Music Group, is the quartet’s tenth full length release.
Artist Andrew Cook has collaborated with the band on several album artworks, and Gaskarth works closely with him to establish the designs that will really tell the story of the album.
For the band’s 2023 release, Tell Me I’m Alive, Cook and Gaskarth opted for a darker, moodier tone for the cover art, which simply features the album and band name in red writing atop a black background that has a chalkboard effect. Everyone’s Talking! steers in the opposite direction.
“With this one, I wanted to polarize that and still keep it really minimal and simplistic, but flip it completely into something that feels optimistic and hopefully,” the singer said.
Gaskarth’s mind immediately shifted to childhood, and the bright and colorful alphabet magnets that would often adorn refrigerator doors in the eighties and nineties.
“We started scratching at that idea, and what Andrew came to me with was something that really reminded me of Talking Heads and Elvis Costello; something early eighties inspired,” he noted.
This, in turn, inspired the album’s primary color scheme, which has been prominent throughout the promotional cycle. Gaskarth explained that this is the first time that the band has fully immersed themselves into the theming of an album.
“Last Young Renegade [released in 2017] was probably the other time we really did it. We had these jackets that went with the themes of the record and and there were these symbols that were each member of the band. But usually, we haven’t really hard committed to looks like that,”
The band has been wearing colored jumpsuits—as seen on the album cover—during live shows, and fans have been sharing images of otherwise unrelated objects that reflect the color scheme. One fan shared a photo of four plush dice to Instagram, along with the caption, “@alltimelow band meeting.”

“I think when we landed on using these really simplistic colors, we were like, ‘It’s four colors, there’s four of us’ and it just made sense,” he said. “Sometimes the story tells itself as it develops and it all fell into place,”
The album has several limited-edition vinyl records, each with a unique spin on the core album art. Gaskarth also played a big part in the design process of these exclusive releases.
“We’re really fortunate to have a fan base that cares about the physicals and about the different collectibles and unique items,” he explained. “So it was important to me when we made this album to make variants,”
And while fans already have a lot to tide them over until the album release this Friday—including four singles, three music videos and signed records—Everyone’s Talking! is just getting started.
“I love limited runs. I love limited pressings. I love one of ones,” Gaskarth said. “And for this record, we’re going to try to do lots more of that as the cycle goes on.”
Everyone’s Talking! is out October 17.
