My Dress-Up Darling’s Marin Gets Summer Kimono in New Anime Artwork Release
Popular anime series My Dress-Up Darling has received official new artwork featuring main character Marin Kitagawa. The image shows the fan-favorite character dressed in a yukata for the release of an upcoming merchandise collection centered specifically around the anime series.
The My Dress-Up Darling official X (formerly Twitter) account released the new Marin artwork, which stars the character by herself in a blue yukata and red obi, a seemingly troubled expression on her face as one of her sandals has come off. The artwork was released ahead of My Dress-Up Darling‘s upcoming merchandise collaboration with PremiumShop, promising “original goods featuring newly drawn summery illustrations.” Readers check out the Marin artwork below.

New ‘My Dress-Up Darling’ Anime Release Promises a Summer-Friendly Merchandise Collection
PremiumShop’s merchandise collaboration with My Dress-Up Darling goes live on Aug. 24, 2024, across four cities in Japan, with the above post teasing more information to come. The store will also sell the previously released My Dress-Up Darling clothing collection with its MILKFED brand, whose images can be seen above, and features Marin and Shizuku graphic tees, hoodies and a shoulder bag. The previous collection is available for purchase worldwide through the WorldShopping service.
The new artwork follows the Marin illustration by the anime’s animation director in June, captioned “Ohisa/Long time no see,” while the franchise as a whole continues to bring the summer feel; Melty Princess recently announced an upcoming Marin-chan figure release where she adorns her swimsuit from Episode 2. Meanwhile, original manga creator Shinichi Fukuda released a color illustration of Marin in a “Chinese-style” waitress dress ahead of its pop-up café openings in Ikebukuro and Osaka this summer and fall. Below, readers can also check out Fukuda’s art commemorating the series passing 10 million copies in circulation.

Crunchyroll streams My Dress-Up Darling, describing the series: “Wakana Gojo is a high school boy who wants to become a kashirashi–a master craftsman who makes traditional Japanese Hina dolls. Though he’s gung-ho about the craft, he knows nothing about the latest trends, and has a hard time fitting in with his class. The popular kids–especially one girl, Marin Kitagawa–seem like they live in a completely different world. That all changes one day, when she shares an unexpected secret with him, and their completely different worlds collide.” Despite confirmation of a second season, no news has been released since the initial announcement in Sep. 2022. A rebroadcast of Season 1 kicked off in June this year in Japan.
