
Hunter x Hunter Creator Reveals Surprise Magical-Girl Crossover With Sailor Moon Artwork
Hunter x Hunter‘s official creator Yoshihiro Togashi maintains his consistent presence on social media, revealing some surprising crossover artwork with the legendary magical-girl manga series Sailor Moon.
Togashi has again garnered widespread social media attention via his latest piece of artwork posted to X (formerly Twitter). Captioned, “Piririn♪piririn♪,” his new color illustration features Hunter x Hunter protagonist Gon Freecss, along with five of the Sailor Guardians from the iconic manga series Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon sketched beneath. Starting in a post dated May 1, 2024, which coincidentally featured “Moon Healing Escalation” in the caption, Togashi has shocked fans through regular updates and a consistent pace with the manga. Alongside the HxH manga, the author has revealed drafts of his first-ever Shonen Jump series, redrawn iconic Shonen Jump covers and even dabbled in titles he wasn’t involved in, such as artwork of a best-selling PlayStation title, Resident Evil.
Hunter x Hunter’s Yoshihiro Togashi & Sailor Moon’s Naoko Takeuchi Married in 1999
The new sketch becomes extra special given his decades-long marriage to Sailor Moon creator Naoko Takeuchi, dating back to 1999. Little is known about their private lives; while Togashi has been occasionally spotted at his mother’s paper store in Yamagata, both opt to communicate with fans primarily through their artwork. The Sailor Moon Store continues to release products featuring new Takeuchi artwork with the recently released compilation book Sailor Moon Raisonné Art Works 1991~2023, unveiling over 700 illustrations from her legendary career.
