An artist at Culture Fest says Bible verses inspire some of her work
BLOOMINGTON (25News Now) – From hearing the melodies of India to seeing several Polynesian dance performances, viewers had a lot to watch at Culture Fest in Bloomington located at 1020 S Morris Ave., from noon to 6 p.m.
Ramona Kendrick came from Texas to promote her art business Blessed Handz, and visit family from the area yearly.
She said she’s been painting for 30 years and uses clay, fabric, hair, and chess pieces to make her art.
Kendrick also shared the meaning behind one of her creations, inspired by the Bible verse, Psalms 149:3.
“This means to dance, the joyful dance. It’s talking about dancing in the bible. A lot of the paintings I put scriptures on,” she said.
The festival included other vendors such as the Divine Nine organizations, and the NAACP’s Bloomington-Normal branch.
