Winners of Art Ambience art show announced – The News Herald

Organizers of the Art Ambience Juried Fine Art Show & Sale and a non-juried Smaller Works Show & Sale that took place at the end of April at the Woodhaven Community Center announced its winners.
There were more than 150 pieces of original artwork on display. Cash Awards were over $800. The Fine Art section was juried by Laura Whitesides Host, a qualified artist who resides outside the Downriver area. The show featured an opening reception and opportunities for the public to meet the artists.
The winners were:
• First Place: Suzanne Beamish for “Swim,” a pastel painting
• Second Place: Mike Bollerud for “Waiting for the Ice Cream Man,” a pencil drawing
• Third Place: Warren Townsend for “Twisted,” a metal sculpture
Honorable Mention Awards: Mary Anne Davis for “Summer’s Joy,” Pamela McCullough for “The Robot’s Perspective,” Sally Morris for “Out The Window”
• Artists’ Choice Award: Sylvia Shimkus for “Happy Little Duck,” a watercolor.
• Two Scholarship Winners: Milan Rochelle and Whitney Cotter
