SOC announces early autumn exhibition
The Scottish Ornithologists’ Club (SOC) is set to host an early autumn art exhibition at its Aberlady headquarters in Lothian, with the event opening on Thursday 1 August.
The SOC has collaborated with Visual Arts Scotland (VAS) to organise an open exhibition called ‘Hope is the thing with feathers’. VAS is a leading platform for contemporary artists working in a wide range of disciplines including both fine arts and applied arts.

The exhibition presents the selected entries resulting from an open call to the VAS membership and reflects the broad base of interests and skills of the group. Selected artworks include jewellery, ceramics, textiles, monumental garden sculpture as well as paintings and fine art prints.
The themes touched on by the artists are equally varied, many reflecting on the comfort, inspiration, and sheer delight that we find in the observation and company of birds.
The exhibition is free to enter and runs until 15 September. Opening hours are 10 am-5 pm from Wednesday-Sunday. Getting to the SOC’s headquarters at Waterston House (EH32 0PY) is easy with a variety of road, rail and bus routes available.
