Join Metro Art for a panel discussion with artist Eloy Torrez on Wednesday, May 29, from 6-7 p.m. at the Bob Hope Patriotic Hall, 1816 S Figueroa St.
Torrez will be joined by veterans featured in his artwork “Five Veterans’ Stories,” which will be located at the West Los Angeles/VA Medical Center station on the D Line subway system. The artist will share behind the scenes video footage created with Juliane Backmann of his interviews with veterans about their pre-military, military and post-military lives. The panel discussion will focus on the importance of representing a vast array of veteran experiences, including those of female veterans and veterans of color. The veterans will also discuss how their military backgrounds shaped their reintegration into civilian life and influenced professions, creative projects and activities. Filmmaker Mobolaji Olambiwonnu, of Dreamseeker Media, will moderate the panel discussion, which will be followed by a Q&A session.
RSVP is encouraged and admission is free. For information, visit eventbrite.com/e/meet-the-artist-eloy-torrez-tickets-905599100287?aff=oddtdtcreator.
