Techno legend Richie Hawtin to mentor Epidemic Sound artists
Production music firm Epidemic Sound has been gradually making more noise about the individual artists who are creating music for its library. Now some of them will be working with a bona-fide legend of electronic music: Richie ‘Plastikman’ Hawtin.
He has signed up to mentor four of Epidemic Sounds’ emerging artists: dreem, The Yard Woman, Hampus Naeselius, and Maya Lourenço. Epidemic said that Hawtin will “offer guidance to help grow their careers in the industry while providing feedback on their release strategies and music”.
The bigger picture here? Amid rumours of an IPO next year, Epidemic wants to firmly remind people of its community of real (not fake!) musicians, and position itself as a talent-development hub rather than simply a library of production tracks.
