Sansom Studios offers free workshops to develop music careers

August 31, 2025 One Min Read

A series of free workshops are being offered to help artists build careers in the music industry.

The project, named Spotlight on Birmingham, is being run by Sansom Studios in Wythall to support and champion emerging musicians in the city.

It will provide sessions covering a range of topics like music promotion, mental wellbeing for musicians, building an audience and navigating the music industry.

Artists between the ages of 18 and 35 who are based in or have strong ties to Birmingham can get involved in the workshops by applying online.

The studios were founded by brothers Olly and Elliott Sansom after they started recording in a garage before building the custom-made space in Birmingham.

Supported by funding from Arts Council England, six artists will be selected from the applications to also take part in a professionally filmed live session and artist interview at the studio.

“It’s one part of a wider mission to be more than just a studio – to be a home for music in the city,” the studio said.

These selected artists will also receive mentorship and industry exposure, it added.
