Reading Guild of Artists is holding its 93rd annual exhibition at the University of Reading for the first time ‘in years’, from June 15 until June 25.
Titled “Collaboration”, the exhibition will be based at the Institute of Education (IoE) at the University’s beautiful cloistered London Road Campus.
This affords a large airy space where we can showcase a large selection of members’ paintings, prints, sculptures and ceramics.
The Reading Guild of Artists was founded in 1930. It has a membership of more than 200 artists and plays an active role in the development of artists in Reading and the surrounding areas.
Artists Kerry Webb and Clara Buchta are among the names whose work will be featured during the two-week long event.
The university’s Dr Loucia Manoupoulo has been chosen as the assessor for this year’s Marie Dyson and Pauline Mercier Awards.
A spokesman for Reading Guild of Artists said: “Continuing RGA’s historic connections with the University, we are exhibiting members’ latest artworks alongside the work of a number of IoE staff, students, trainee teachers and their school mentors.”
This year, the guild is also offering a series of workshops, open to the public.
Fiona Talkington, RGA’s President, said: “It’s exciting to welcome Reading Guild of Artists back to Reading University which has a flourishing relationship with the town and the community, and a growing engagement with the diverse arts scene in Reading. The creativity and vision in RGA exhibitions is always inspiring and I’m looking forward to seeing new work from some of our outstanding local artists.”
The exhibition will be open every day from 10am until 4pm from Saturday, June 15 until Tuesday. June 25.
Visitors will be warmly welcomed by members of the RGA at LO4 Art Building in the Institute of Education at the London Road Campus, RG1 5AG.
The RGA was founded in 1930 and describes itself as a diverse group of professional and amateur artists in the Berkshire area.
According to the guild, membership is open to all and new members are very welcome, from complete beginners to experienced professionals, or those just interested in art.
