Tales Of The Rays Shutdown Showcases Tales Of Destiny 2 Cast Artwork
Following the announcement that the free-to-play mobile game Tales of the Rays will be shut down on July 23, 2024, Bandai Namco shared a new illustration featuring all 222 characters.
Now, the developer is sharing focused images of each title’s cast from that massive illustration. The third one depicts the cast of the fourth mainline Tales of game, Tales of Destiny 2.
Tales of Destiny 2 was initially released for the PlayStation 2 in 2002, followed by a PSP port in 2007. No version of this game has ever been localized. Tales of Eternia was called Tales of Destiny II back during its localized PS1 release, causing confusion. However, the localized PSP port of Tales of Eternia in Europe finally called it by its proper name. You can think of it as a Final Fantasy II / IV or Final Fantasy III / VI situation.

Sadly, many Tales of games, including Tales of Xillia 2, were recently delisted from PSN. Bandai Namco has not communicated regarding these delistings, prompting increasing concern over preservation for this franchise, which hasn’t been great for a long while. So, hopefully, Bandai Namco will soon announce re-releases for all of those delisted titles and plenty of neglected older ones.
With Tales of the Rays incoming shutdown, no mobile entries remain, making the franchise’s status increasingly worrying.
Bandai Namco has announced that the latest entry of the Tales of franchise, Tales of Arise, has sold over three million units worldwide.
