New display of permanent collection artworks at Butler Gallery in Kilkenny
A new display of artworks from the Butler Gallery’s collection is now on display.
Collection Galleries 3 and 4 have recently been rehung to include a multi-sensory immersive experience for all audiences. This approach has informed the selection of this group of works, paying particular attention to the materials used in the construction of the pieces, as well as the subject matter depicted. From the Styrofoam used to make Martin Folan’s ‘Andy Warhol’, to the image of the flying woman carried by a gust of wind in Jill Dennis’ ‘My Birthday’, this particular hanging aims to provide participants with a multi-sensory experience by engaging sight, sound, touch, and smell to deepen their connection with the artworks displayed.
The public are invited to come visit and see works by artists Mary Butler, Dorothy Cross, John Kindness, Nevan Lahart, T.J. Maher, Paul McKinley and more! Sensory boxes conceived and produced by Niamh Twomey.
The Butler Gallery is open Tuesday to Sunday from 10am to 5pm with a late opening on Thursday until 8pm and is open on Sunday from 11am to 5pm.
