‘Dancing Queen,’ a mixed-media artwork by Katie Aronat
Chattanooga artist Katie Aronat uses wood cutouts, coloring and gluing to “highlight those interesting spaces created in between with vibrant colors and material dimension,” she says. Her work features “striking palettes” that bring energy into the compositions.
“Dancing Queen” was recently featured at WanderLinger Art Gallery during the All Women’s Art Show. This art gallery, located inside the beloved local brewpub, gives area artists a venue to display their works. WanderLinger puts on a different art show every month.
“I really love to dance, and I’ve always been really drawn to the female figure, just because it’s empowering to me. My Dancing Queen is nowhere near anatomical, but something about the femininity of it, the character emerging and the dancing, make it my most feminine piece,” says Aronat.
