Gaia is on display at St Thomas’ Church until 12 May.

It’s hoped that an art installation in a Douglas church will help inspire people to take action against climate change.

Gaia – a globe measuring six metres in diameter – is on display at St Thomas’ Church until 12 May.

The artwork by Luke Jerram is accompanied by a bespoke surround sound composition by BAFTA award winning composer, Dan Jones.

It was brought over to the Island to mark Earth Day (22 April), which is held annually to demonstrate support for environmental protection.

Founded in 1970, it now includes a wide range of events co-ordinated globally.

Net Zero Isle of Man’s Head of Programme Delivery, Aly Lewin, says the artwork on display in Douglas shows the ‘interconnectedness’ of our planet:

Gaia is free to view, but you need to book a time slot in advance – you can find all the information you need HERE.
