New songs: Son Lux, Moses Sumney, Liquid Mike, more
So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
TRICKY FT MITCH SANDERS – “BECAUSE I DON’T KNOW”
The second single from Tricky’s upcoming Different When It’s Silent and this one features Bristolian singer-songwriter Mitch Sanders.

MOSES SUMNEY – “SINS OF THE FATHER” (FT. KARA JACKSON)
Moses Sumney and Joseph Shirley scored Aleshea Harris’ new film IS GOD IS, and their soundtrack is due out on May 22 via Lakeshore Records. The first single is the gorgeous “Sins of the Father,” which features Kara Jackson.

SON LUX – “ENDLESSLY”
Son Lux have announced new album Out Into which is out September 18 via This Is Meru/City Slang. “We’re going places we’ve never gone before in terms of energy, attitude, color,” says bandleader Ryan Lott. “And it all comes from having reverence for those initial sparks, for treating the voice memo version of the idea as the most sacred iteration.” Here’s the first single.

LIQUID MIKE – “DROWNING MACHINE”
Liquid Mike follows last year’s Hell Is An Airport with a propulsive new single, “Drowning Machine.”

PLAY TIME – “OPEN THE DOOR, JOEY”
Play Time is the trio of percussionist Booker Stardrum (SML, Photay), saxophonist Will Epstein (DARKSIDE), and synth player Ben Vida (Tyondai Braxton). Their debut album is titled Magic Object and is out July 3 via Balmat. “You’re hearing us discover the voice of the band in real time,” Ben says.

TYONDAI BRAXTON – “UNFS”
Tyondai Braxton has announced his first new album since 2022’s Telekinesis. Splayed Werks is due out August 21 via Erased Tapes, and the first single is minimal dance track “UnFS.”

PYE CORNER AUDIO FT IAN RANKIN – “THE BREATH OF NOW”
Martin Jenkins’ new single as Pye Corner Audio is a collaboration with Scottish crime writer Ian Rankin. “I envisioned a kind of grimy, ’80s urban chase scene while I was working on this one,” says Jenkins. “Ian instantly came to mind to provide some kind of narrative, and he absolutely nailed it.” New album More Songs About The Sun is out June 19.

SWAPMEET – “2 C U”
Swapmeet release their debut album Mount Zero in July, and they’ve shared another single from it, “2 C U,” which they say “captures the excitement of wanting to see someone, the mindless things you think or do in anticipation, and how the nerves that follow cannot be controlled.”

WING! – “HOLD THEM TO IT”
“Jungle has always been one of the central influences for me,” says UK producer wing! of this new single. “I felt there was so much of it in the music I was making that was a bit more tucked away and I really wanted to make something that was just a complete show of my love for the genre, and showing the impact that artists like Foul Play, Omni-Trio, M-Beat, Dillinja, LTJ Bukem, 4hero etc all had on me.” wing!’s new EP (WORTH SCANNING FOR) is out July 15 via Memorials of Distinction.

RACHEL BOBBITT – “WHERE DO YOU WANT TO BE?”
Rachel Bobbitt follows her 2025 debut album Swimming Towards the Sand with a new single, the hushed “Where Do You Want To Be?”

TRUCK VIOLENCE – “YOUR NAME, IT’S WALKING”
“This song is a sort of compilation of thoughts,” says Truck Violence’s Karysn Henderson. “My relationship with my birth name after having a precarious journey with gender and identity in my early teens, my feelings of inadequacy and alienation growing up with intense ADHD and anxiety from an early age, my desires for anchorage in an uncertain future. The hook of the song always comes off as extremely cliche to me, maybe I am hitting the nail too precisely, with too blunt a face, but perhaps that is necessary, perhaps it reflects well the thoughts of myself as I was.” Truck Violence’s new album The weathervane is my body is out June 26.

WILL SHEFF – “ALWAYS EVERYTHING”
Okkervil River frontman Will Sheff is releasing his new solo album, Extra Mile, in July, and he’s given us another preview with “Always Everything,” which has vocals from Wye Oak’s Jenn Wasner and drums from Thor Harris. “‘Always Everything’ is a song about watching the seasons change outside of you and feeling a parallel change inside of you, and about change being something that never changes,” he says.

BUTTHOLE SURFERS – “INTELLIGENT GUY”
“We are not and never were in the business of being intelligent,” says Butthole Surfers’ Paul Leary if this latest song from their upcoming “lost” album After the Astronaut. They video was created by legndary prankster artist Ron English.

100 DEMONS – “SPIRITUAL OBLITERATION”
100 Demons have given us another preview of their first album in over 20 years, Embrace the Black Light, which “Spiritual Obliteration.” “With the marriage of the political and the religious worlds melding into one giant complete mess it’s been hard to sympathize with the explosion of zealots and their followers when their worlds come crashing down upon them,” they say. “Over the years I’ve found more truths and peace in alternate writings that are not of Abrahamic origins.
