Victoria Centre has installed a new lace-inspired artwork at the entrance points to its car park lift lobbies.
The bespoke design was created for the Nottingham shopping centre by lace designer Louise West, one of the few remaining lace designers working in the city.
The artwork is inspired by the Nottingham Catchfly flower and references the city’s historic lace-making industry.
It has been added to the lift lobby areas as part of the centre’s wider efforts to reflect Nottingham’s industrial and creative heritage. Last year, Victoria Centre also commissioned a mural on Glasshouse Street by local artist Elroy.
Louise West has previously worked on a number of city commissions, including projects at Nottingham Contemporary.
Nigel Wheatley, Centre Director at Victoria Centre, said: “We’re incredibly excited and privileged to be celebrating Nottingham’s lace heritage at Victoria Centre.
“We’re passionate about bringing Nottingham’s rich history to life in modern and meaningful ways across the centre, and Louise’s beautiful design does exactly that.”
