New event coming for An Affair of the Arts at the Prizery
Artrageous, which will take place on Sunday, April 28, at 5 pm, is known for its blend of multiple art forms into a single, interactive live concert experience for all ages.
The troupe is based out of their community studio center and production offices located between Santa Fe and Albuquerque, N.M.
Artrageous performances are high-energy and crafted to feature immersive theatre, encouraging audience participation, and typically highlighting several genres of music, dance, puppetry, storytelling and speed-painted visual art.
Their performances feature 10-12 multi-talented performers in a 90-minute, high-energy, participatory concert, and fine art event.
The various concert elements are highlighted by several recreations of iconic works of art such as Da Vinci’s “Mona Lisa” and Van Gogh’s “Starry Night” as well as colorful portraits of pop culture figures – Freddie Mercury, Prince, Aretha Franklin and John Lennon to name a few.
In addition, the group pays tribute to patriotic-themed folk art, including the American Eagle and the Statue of Liberty.
Each show concludes with an impromptu on-stage gallery event, where audience members are invited to view the art created during the show as well as meet and interact with the performers.
A lucky audience member will win a piece of art created during the show, and, at the end of the show, there will be a live auction for the other art pieces.
Tickets are $20 each or five for $50, so you can bring the entire family!
The week kicks off with the Opening Reception and Gala Friday, April 26.
