Art focus: Orchestra.

Ensembles: Chamber Orchestra, Symphonic Band, Heartland Symphony Orchestra, and Jazz.
Adviser nomination: “Elsie plays bass in Chamber Orchestra this year and is gearing up for her third year playing in the pit orchestra for the spring musical. As the only bass player in these groups, she takes on this foundational ensemble role with confidence and a tireless work ethic,” adviser Leslie Zander said. “Elsie’s dependability and enthusiasm make her an asset to the orchestra program at BHS and an excellent nominee for Fine Arts Student of the Week.”
Proudest fine arts achievement: Getting into Heartland Symphony.

What got you interested in playing bass? It was big, and I could stand out with it.
How challenging is it to be the only bass player in your ensembles? I can’t tell if I’m good or bad because I have nobody my age to compare myself to.
Favorite piece you’ve performed: “Russlan” by Glinka.
What do you enjoy most about being in orchestra? Being in a small group is kind of nice compared to band.
Other extracurricular activities: Youth Advisory Council.
Dream job: Broadway pit player or something to do with film music.
Favorite subject: Orchestra or band. It switches daily.
Favorite movie: “How to Train Your Dragon.”
