Microscopic cheetah artwork by Bournemouth-based artist

Bournemouth-based micro artist David A Lindon spent three months creating the tiny masterpiece in the eye of a needle.

David said: “This is one of my recent creations in 2024. I have painted an African sunset on the background of this needle, with rocky mountains and a lush savannah grassland.

“The detailed tree has great texture and realistic branches for the cheetah to stand on, while it searches for its prey. Around the base of the tree there are delicate flowers and various shades of moss.

“The cheetah has a fluffy white underside, and its head is smaller than the point of a pin.

“I like the way the artistic layers weave together to tell the story of this beautiful animal. “

The microscopic cheetah was commissioned by Sue and William from Nantwich in Cheshire.

It measures 0.7mm x 0.4mm and is mounted in glass and metal.

It was commissioned after David’s recently exhibited The World’s Smallest Zoo comprising 24 microscopic animal masterpieces.
