DuCard Vineyards announces unveiling of new original artwork

Original artwork by Criglersville’s Renee Balfour now hangs in the tasting room of DuCard Vineyards in Etlan.

DuCard Vineyards in Etlan is proud to announce two original pieces of artwork unveiled at the tasting room created by artist Renee Balfour of Possum’s Store Art & Artisan Gallery in Criglersville.

The set of two large-scale murals are displayed in the Pavilion Room where they can be enjoyed in the natural light provided by large doors and windows on three sides. The pieces were kept covered until the grand unveiling by vineyards’ owner Scott Elliff on Saturday May 25, 2024, during Memorial Day weekend festivities.

A sense of place: The artwork, commissioned by the owner as an addition to the comfortable and natural setting at DuCard brings a sense of the outdoors inside. The artist used DuCard Vineyards as the original inspiration but relied on a sense of place for parts of the paintings. “The murals reflect the open space where they are hung as well as a distant view of the vineyard and mountains.” Balfour said.

Elliff, founder and president of DuCard Vineyards, spoke at the unveiling saying, “working with Renee was a chance to show some of the wonderful local partnerships that exist for DuCard Vineyards and other businesses/neighbors around the winery.”

DuCard Vineyards traditionally engages with many local vendors and establishes partnerships with businesses in the area to create a larger sense of community. Possum’s Store Art and Artisan Gallery is a unique shop that also hosts live music in an intimate setting.

DuCard wine is available at these events. They also host workshops and classes.

The artwork can be viewed at the winery during normal hours of operation. Open daily, year-round, the summer hours (May to October) are Monday to Thursday 12 to 5 p.m., Friday 12 to 9 p.m., Saturday, Sunday, and Holiday Mondays 12 to 6 p.m.
