Cumbrian village bus stop revamped with vibrant bird artwork

July 24, 2024 One Min Read

The piece pays homage to migratory birds like swifts, swallows and house martins, and the big annual journeys they embark on to return to their birthplaces for nesting.

With climate changes and insect and nesting site loss, these amazing birds have many things against them.

The illustration was taken from a book written by Cumbrian author John Miles, who highlights the plight of the wildlife threatened by human actions, in a range of children’s books.

Resident Barry Robson anticipates the stunning visual will foster a deeper understanding and respect for these creatures.

The colourful design hits home and the huge journey these little birds undertake is educational and will hopefully trigger conversation.

Mr Alcock, whose artwork also acts as a relaxation tool amidst his day job, invites those who pass by to view the creative installation in Bothel.
