Six Cumbrian artists to exhibit at major UK art fair

November 6, 2025 2 Mins Read

Six Cumbrian artists have been selected to exhibit their work at a major UK art fair.

The creatives will take part in Manchester Art Fair, which will be held from November 21 to 23 and is one of the UK’s largest visual arts events.

The selected artists are Annie Luke Turner, Janette Phillips, Katie Edwards Illustration, Lily Greenwood, Mark Gibbs, and Sarah Cemmick Lino Cuts.

Ms Turner, an abstract painter based in the Lake District, said: “It’s a real honour to have been selected to exhibit at Manchester Art Fair, one of the UK’s largest and most respected art fairs.

“It’s an incredible platform for emerging artists.

“I’m looking forward to having the opportunity to show my latest work, which has always evolved from a feeling of place after walks, drives, and journeys, inspired by light, shapes, colours and a sense for what may have happened there before.”

Her work will be displayed at stand 842 during the fair.

Turner works across a range of mediums, including acrylic, ink, collage, and oil, and was recently awarded the Women in Art Prize in London.

She has exhibited widely across the North of England and Scotland, and will hold a solo exhibition at The Hampstead School of Art next year.

Ms Phillips, another selected artist, said: “I’m delighted to be exhibiting at Manchester Art Fair for the third time this November.

“As a Lancashire girl it always feels good to come back to my roots and share my latest work alongside such a wealth of creative talent.”

Phillips is based in Cumbria and works from a studio overlooking Morecambe Bay.

Her abstract landscape paintings are inspired by the changing light and water patterns of the estuary and are created using a variety of materials, including watercolour, acrylic, collage, and wax.

She is a member of the Lake Artists Society and has exhibited across the UK.

Sophie Helm, managing director at Manchester Art Fair, said: “The quality and number of applications received for this year’s fair was extremely high, making for an exceptionally difficult selection process.

“To see six artists chosen from across Cumbria is a testament to the incredible breadth and quality of creative talent in the county.

“We look forward to welcoming all to this year’s Manchester Art Fair.”

The fair has welcomed more than 122,000 visitors since 2008 and has generated more than £7.8 million in art sales.
