Arts Bonita: Where the wild meets the wondrous this June and July
Two new and exceptional exhibits will be on view at the Arts Bonita Visual Arts Center from June 6 to July 18.
Call of the Wild is a juried exhibition that invites artists to submit works that explore our love of the natural world in a way that celebrates the wondrous variety of flora and fauna that surrounds us. The artwork displayed features depictions of nature from the wider perspective of a landscape to an up-close and personal study of plant and animal species.
This exhibition intends to draw attention to the beauty and delicacy of our environment and its inhabitants. It features artwork in all media from various submitting artists who share a love for the natural world. A guest juror will select and award the artwork and present the awards at the opening reception.
The second exhibit is Dominick Tascher: Opening Into the Unknown…
“Through my work, I endeavor to capture the essence of the unexplored, the enigmatic, and the boundless possibilities that lie beyond our comprehension,” says Tascher. “When starting a piece, it serves as a portal, embarking on a journey of discovery and introspection. Drawing inspiration from the depths of the subconscious, I employ abstraction to transcend conventional understanding and delve into realms of pure emotion and imagination. By embracing uncertainty and embracing the unfamiliar, I seek to evoke a sense of wonder and awe, inviting viewers to join me in exploring the limitless expanses of the human experience.”
Dominick was born and raised in Bordeaux,
France. He discovered his passion for the arts at a young age, always drawing and aspiring to be a car designer or an architect. Growing up in one of the most beautiful cities in France, he was surrounded by history and visual arts. He soon acquired a love for music and paintings. Dominick’s path led him to become a physician instead of a car designer or architect… but his passion for the arts and painting never left him. Moving to St. Martin with his family in the late 80s, the Caribbean’s beauty and colorful culture inspired him to return to his easel and start painting again.
His journey did not stop there; he relocated to the US in the early 2000s and has lived in Florida since then. Dominick is a self-taught artist whose work is inspired by periods like Abstract Expressionism, Cubism, and Street Art. His study of Zen Buddhism has also served as inspiration.
Dominick lives in Southwest Florida and is a resident artist at The Union Artist Studios on the Alliance for The Arts campus in Fort Myers.
