Artists are no strangers to Instagram.

The app is a great platform to showcase their work in an online gallery that billions of active users can enjoy.

North East painters, paper cut artists and illustrators have all taken to the social media platform to share their grand designs.

If you want to support some local artists and brighten up your social media feed, here are 10 to check out:

1.florence_and_rose_seaglass

Florence & Rose makes beautiful framed pictures out of sea glass collected on Seaham beach.

This avid beachcombing artist created the Angel of the North out of colourful sea glass and pebbles.

The Instagram artist also designs hearts, animals and flowers using the multicoloured glass, and shares her creations with over 7,000 followers.

2. stephanieperryart

Pet portrait artist Stephanie Perry has drawn a multitude of different animals ranging from dogs to alpacas.

These coloured pencil animals are so realistic they look like photographs.

3. stuartjonesart

Stuart Jones is an outdoor oil painter who has painted a number of North East views, including this artwork of Grey’s Street.

His other work includes coastal oil paintings of Tynemouth Longsands and fishermen at South Shields lighthouse.

Many of his paintings amass hundreds of likes, and it’s easy to see why as his paintbrush captures candid moments in time.

4. joanne_rowland_art

Talented artist Joanne Rowland creates wildlife, pet and people portraits.

She uses a variety of mediums to bring animals to life on canvas, including pastels, pencils, watercolours and acrylic paint.

The attention to detail on this lion’s mane is astonishing and looks like it would have taken a long time to create.

Northumberland-based artist John Speight is a paper cut artist.

He uses a scalpel to cut silhouettes out of paper.

As you can see from John’s Instagram post above, it must take a lot of patience and a delicate hand to cut the branches and leaves of a large tree into paper.

Lottie paints seaside views onto shells.

This painting of St Mary’s Lighthouse in Whitley Bay is a cute and quirky idea and would make a lovely decoration for any home.

Illustrator, artist and self-proclaimed “obsessive sketchbook filler” Katy Anne Stamp shares her incredible artwork on Instagram.

Her designs are usually in black and white, created using black ink.

However, if you check out her page you will see the occasional injection of colour in some of her designs.

She draws celebrities such as Rami Malek, Stan Lee and Ezra Miller.

Little Flowers By Sligo shares her incredibly cute creations with more than a thousand followers on Instagram.

She is a watercolour artist and illustrator and makes her paintings into children’s cards, gifts and prints.

9. emilywardartist

Emily Ward shares her unique paintings of the coastline, landmarks and castles.

She incorporates bright and beautiful flowers in many of her designs.

She even decorated one of the Elmer elephants on display in Gosforth.

Hexham-based artist Kelly Morgan is a glass painter who makes unique ‘affordable art’ such as mirrors, lanterns and wine glasses.

Her artwork is bold, colourful and inspired by nature and the countryside.

This painting of the Sycamore Gap is a perfect autumnal piece of artwork which would brighten up any wall.
