Shreveport artists to participate in art n seek event Game of Shrooms
Local artists will join hundreds of others from around the world Saturday as they participate in Daniel “Attaboy” Seifert’s Game of Shrooms, an annual “art N seek” event.
Artists hide their original mushroom-themed art works in public places then give hints for others to find them and keep them. The event started in 2019.
“The act of hiding something for strangers to find is the kindest form of gift giving,” said Shreveport artist James Marks. “Finding something is the truest form of ownership.”
The artists will post clues on Instagram. Participants see the clues and search for the art. The person who finds it is asked to post a pic on social media to claim it.
“I like the mystery of the hunt,” Marks said. “It adds a game dynamic that simply going into a gallery can’t have.”
Here are the participating local artists:
“Art is the treasure. What could be more fun?” said Molisee, who will hide four miniature mushroom paintings in the Highland area, as well as put four mushroom-themed magnets on metal poles.
“I hope the 20 odd pieces I am putting out find loving homes,” said Marks, who plans to hide his works in downtown.
A map of all participating artists can be seen on the Game of Shrooms website.
“It’s artists all over the globe, so there is a sense of community and shared purpose,” Marks said.
