Chaos, creation collide in Hera Gallery’s 2024 URI Senior Seminar Exhibition | Arts & Living

Since 2017, Hera Gallery has had an annual spring URI senior seminar exhibition, Sonja Czekalski, Hera Gallery director said. In doing so, the URI Department of Fine Art and Art History students work with Hera Gallery to curate an entire exhibition entirely themselves, including developing their showcards, writing press releases, gathering artist statements and bios and hanging the final artworks. She said the senior seminar exhibition gives the graduating students real-life professional artistic experiences, as well as many valuable career lessons.

“The students gain practical experience of developing an exhibition from start to finish,” Czekalski said. “It provides an experience that culminates their four years of study in URI’s Department of Fine Art and Art History and is a wonderful celebration to see the work they have been making in their last semester.
