Wealthy art collector’s son, 25, is remanded in custody over attempted murder of the live-in maid at his family’s £20m home in Chelsea

The son of a wealthy art collector has been remanded in custody this week to face charges for the attempted murder of the family’s live-in maid.

Maximillian Bourne, 25, who described himself in court as ‘a nice, very good-looking white boy from Chelsea’, is said to have repeatedly stabbed Joselia Pereira Do Nascimento at the five-bedroom property in Justice Walk, Chelsea on February 25.

Ms Pereira Do Nacimento who spent a week in hospital from injuries suffered to her face and back, although they were not seen to be life-threatening.

IT consultant Bourne was due to enter his plea to a charge of attempted murder at Southwark Crown Court today but the hearing was adjourned until May 15.

Prosecutor David Smith said: ‘I invite the court to arrange a further case management hearing when the defendant can be arraigned.’

Ms Pereira Do Nacimento was allegedly attacked while working as a maid at the property, said to be worth around £20million.

The 18th-century building was once used as a holding place for petty criminals waiting to be sent to Britain’s colonies.

In 2014, MailOnline reported the owners, Graham and Sylvia Bourne, were looking to sell the property for £14.5mn after buying it for £2.8mn in 1998.

Bourne is the son of art dealer and philanthropist Sylvia Bourne and property developer Graham Bourne.

He is the great great grandson of Epitácio Pessoa who was the President of Brazil from 1919 to 1922.

Mrs Bourne’s father, Carlos Alberto Pessoa Pardellas, was a prominent diplomat who served as an ambassador to the UK.

Bourne is charged with attempted murder.
