Norwich event showcases Ukrainian refugee artist’s journey

March 27, 2024 One Min Read

Yuliia Vasylenko, a Ukrainian refugee, is holding her Shades of Hope art event at The Crypt Gallery, Norwich School on April 5 and 6.

Ms Vasylenko found refuge in Norwich in 2022 after escaping from the turmoil of war-torn Ukraine.

Her work portrays the human struggle with adversity using themes of war, resilience, and hope.

Ms Vasylenko said: “My art mirrors my emotions, thoughts, and dreams.

“It invites you to see the world through my eyes—a world where even in darkness, there’s a flicker of hope.”

Of all the profits made at the event, 75pc will be dedicated to supporting Ukrainian charities.

Ms Vasylenko said: “The exhibition is not just about art—it’s about making a difference.

“It’s about offering a ray of hope to those who need it most.”
