Blackburn schoolgirl’s powerful artwork earns anti‑racism award
A pupil has won first place in a national anti-racism competition for her powerful artwork.
Dima Fakhr Mararouf, a student at Pleckgate High School in Blackburn, impressed judges with her piece titled Different Colour Same Heart.
She was named the winner at the Show Racism the Red Card School Competition for England Awards Ceremony, held at Manchester United.
Andreas Papakyriacou, Teacher of Religion of Worldviews, said: “I am incredibly proud of Dima for this fantastic achievement.

“Her artwork carried a really powerful message and fully deserved the recognition it received on a national stage.

More than 20,000 young people from across the country took part this year, creating entries that promoted anti-racism and equality.
Dima was awarded a special goody bag by football legends John Barnes and Viv Anderson.
