What got you interested in culinary arts? It likely started when I would help make part of the suppers at my grandparents’ house (mostly dessert). Another factor might’ve been when I would occasionally help out at the Outreach Program for Trinity Lutheran Church’s Summer Stretch. Either way, by the time I first participated in my first high school cooking classes (Creative Foods and Exploring Foods in my case), I was sold on culinary as a profession.
What have you enjoyed most about the cooking class? I always find it enjoyable to expand upon my knowledge of how to cook and various things to cook, along with expanding my palate of various foods that I’ve eaten. And finally, it’s always nice to make some new friends in the classes, even if they’re just “work friends.”
What’s your favorite dish you’ve made? When it comes down to just Culinary Arts, my favorite thing I’ve made so far was probably the caesar salad. However, my favorite thing that I’ve made out of all my cooking classes is a title earned by either the German spaetzle I made in International Foods or the soft pretzels I made in Exploring Foods.
