Wealthy art collector’s son accused of trying to murder his live-in maid in his £20million home tells court judge ‘I’m a nice, very good-looking white boy from Chelsea’

The son of a wealthy art collector appeared in court this week to face charges for the alleged attempted murder of the family’s live-in maid.

Maximillian Bourne, 25, an IT consultant, is accused of stabbing Joselia Pereira Do Nascimento on February 25 at the family’s £20mn home in West London.

Bourne was arrested and charged before appearing at Westminster magistrates’ court where he was remanded in custody until March 26.

Appearing in the dock this week, Bourne told the court: ‘I’m a nice, very good-looking white boy from Chelsea.’

He was not asked to enter a plea but will next month appear before a judge at the Old Bailey to face the charge.

Kalsoom Shah, prosecuting, told the hearing this week: ‘The victim was critical, but her injuries are now not life-threatening.’

Pereira Do Nascimento is expected to spend at least a week in hospital receiving treatment for her injuries, Shah said.

The victim’s injuries were said to be mainly to her face and back.

The attack allegedly occurred on Sunday, February 25, at the £20mn five-bedroom family home on Justice Walk, Chelsea.

The 18th-century building was once used as a holding place for petty criminals waiting to be sent to Britain’s colonies.

In 2014, MailOnline reported the owners, Graham and Sylvia Bourne, were looking to sell the property for £14.5mn after buying it for £2.8mn in 1998.

Sylvia Bourne is a celebrated art collector and philanthropist.

Graham Bourne is a property developer.

Maximillian Bourne is also the great, great grandson of Epitácio Pessoa, President of Brazil between 1919 and 1922.

The family’s restoration saw the Court House become a family home for the first time in its 300-year history. 

After the last prisoner was sentenced, the Court House became a wine warehouse before becoming home to a warren of tiny artists’ and architect’s studios.
