A Cork artist has been chosen to feature in a celebration of ‘captivating paper artworks’
But a Cork artist has been chosen to showcase her stunning work in the first-ever Paper Art Bienniale, showcasing an array of captivating paper artworks by international artists.
Rachel Kenny, a multi-disciplinary talent hailing from Cork, will have her piece “Stars are dropping thick as stones,” 2024 featured in the International Association of Hand Papermakers and Paper Artists (IAPMA) ReBloom celebration.
Based in Dublin and armed with a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art Print from the National College of Art and Design, Kenny’s work delves into the intricate interplay of time, identity, and disintegration. Her distinctive artistic vision, marked by a profound sense of introspection and ritualism, promises to captivate audiences at the event.
“Kenny’s contribution to the Biennale serves as a poignant reflection on the post-pandemic landscape, inviting viewers to embrace stillness as a means of navigating collective trauma.” say the organisers of the Cork artist’s work.
“Through her meticulously crafted artworks, she explores themes of movement, slowness, and resilience, urging us to reconnect with the rhythms of nature and reclaim our humanity in an increasingly mechanised world.
“Employing the ancient practice of paper-making and the sun-reliant technique of cyanotype, Kenny’s creations embody a harmonious union between art and nature. Her work transcends the boundaries of abstraction, inviting viewers on a transformative journey of self-discovery and existential inquiry.”
RedBloom will run from April 21st to August 11th, 2024, at the castle of Hagen im Bremischen in Germany.
