Valuable indigenous artwork mistakenly donated at SA op shop
The owner of a painting by an indigenous artist purchased in the Northern Territory has been donated to a Mitcham op shop by the owners’ in-laws in an ‘unfortunate misunderstanding’.
Maddie Gill, who loaned the painting, titled ‘My Country’ to family while working in Sydney said, “They maybe didn’t realise I wanted it back”.
Gill said to Sonya & Jules, if the artwork is discovered in SA, “I’ll pay the market value for the painting now”.
