T-Rex public artwork in Lewis Cubitt Park, King’s Cross
The striking installation by land artist David Popa is located at Lewis Cubitt Park in King’s Cross.
Inspired by the immersive experience Prehistoric Planet: Discovering Dinosaurs at Lightroom, the Tyrannosaurus rex appears to be emerging from the ground.

“Having created large-scale frescoes across Finland, Moab, and the UK, it feels like a powerful moment to share this work in such a public, urban setting.
“My pieces are usually remote and ephemeral, so the chance for people to encounter it spontaneously on Lewis Cubitt Park adds a whole new energy.
“Like so many, I grew up in awe of dinosaurs.”
The artwork, Popa’s first public installation in London, was created using hand sprayers and natural pigments.
It is made from biodegradable materials including earth pigments, white charcoal and a casein-based binder.

David Sabel, executive producer at Lightroom, said: “Bringing the world of Prehistoric Planet: Discovering Dinosaurs to life in Lightroom has been a thrilling experience, using the immense scale of the venue to place audiences face to face with these great creatures.
“So, it was a natural evolution that they should take over Kings Cross.”

The installation is part of a wider visitor experience linked to Prehistoric Planet: Discovering Dinosaurs, the immersive show running at Lightroom until November 2, 2025.
Narrated by Damian Lewis and featuring an original score by Hans Zimmer, the show uses 360-degree projection to transport audiences into the age of dinosaurs.
Families visiting King’s Cross can also join the King’s Cross Dinosaur Trail, beginning and ending at Lightroom.
Children who complete the trail can return their maps to the venue for a prehistoric-themed reward.
Tickets for Prehistoric Planet: Discovering Dinosaurs start at £25 for adults and £15 for children and students.
Family, group, and education discounts are available.
