Prime Video removes guns from James Bond promotional artwork

James Bond’s iconic gun has been removed from all promotional artwork associated with the character on Prime Video.

It’s unclear when exactly Prime Video implemented this change, but eagle-eyed fans began to notice it on Oct. 2, with many taking to X (formerly Twitter) to weigh in.

Many Bond enthusiasts were irate that Amazon, which acquired creative control of the James Bond franchise in February 2025, would toy with such well-known images of the secret agent.

“Bond without his gun is like Batman without his cape — you’ve stripped away the very symbol of who he is,“ commented one user on an image that showed all of the new Bond movie posters with a weaponless 007.

In some of the altered posters, the gun was simply cropped out, while in others, the weapon was edited out entirely, leaving Bond with an awkward hand position.

“This is utterly pathetic from @amazon and needs correcting,” quipped another fan.

Other comments called the move “utter woke nonsense” and claimed that Prime Video was “censoring the past, erasing history.”

This change occurred just days before James Bond Day, which is celebrated annually on Oct. 5 to commemorate the 1962 world premiere of the first James Bond film, “Dr. No,” in London.

Prime Video has yet to issue a statement regarding its erasure of Bond’s firearms. The guns are still seen in the movies, just not in any promotional artwork on the streaming service.

All 25 Bond movies from Eon Productions, which star actors like Sean Connery, Roger Moore, and Daniel Craig as the legendary Bond, are currently available to stream on Prime Video.
