Park View Care Home hosts exhibition of residents’ artwork
The exhibition was a “huge success” as work from residents at Park View Care Home came to together to produce the gallery, which was enjoyed by friends and families.
The care home brought in Matthew Peace, a professional artist and former award winning activities coordinator to show residents the ropes and help discover a side that many hadn’t explored before.

Mr Peace said: “I have always had a passion working with the elderly and I feel that when people reach their later years they can often feel that they are no longer able to learn new skills or try new activities.
“I like to try and break this myth and encourage anyone of any age and ability that they can still achieve artistic success even if they have never drawn and painted before.
“Art is a universal language and resonates with everyone in some way, shape or form and in my classes I encourage everyone to take part even if they do not want to do anything physical their very presence and conversing with staff and other residents is therapeutic in its own right.

“The resident’s gallery was a huge success with families, staff and friends all coming to view the various pieces on display. Some pieces also include art from residents’ personal collection as Park View Care Home has several artists in residence”.
The home manager of Park View, Carol Rhind said: “We were delighted that Matthew has supported us at Park View with his amazing skills running the Art Club.
“Many of the residents had not tried this before and their results speak for themselves. Our Art Club continues and we are all looking forward to our second exhibition”.
