My Hero Academia Releases New Ukiyo-e Style Art With Characters in Kimono
The upcoming anime movie My Hero Academia: You’re Next, will be released in Japan on Aug. 2, 2024. Coinciding with the release of the fourth My Hero Academia movie, merchandise featuring the boys of U.A. High School will soon be available for purchase.
According to the Japanese news and entertainment website Comic Natalie, original artwork of Izuku “Deku” Midoriya and his male superhero friends wearing summer kimono (yukata) outfits will be available on various merchandise, such as acrylic stands and badges. The artwork is drawn in the style of Ukiyo-e, a Japanese art style from the 17th to 19th century, suiting the cosmetic theme of the latest My Hero Academia product. The boys featured are Deku, Katsuki Bakugo, Shoto Todoroki, Eijiro Kirishima, Neito Monoma and Hitoshi Shinso.

The new My Hero Academia movie goods will be available at Animate stores and Animate online stores in Japan from Aug. 2 to Sept. 29, 2024. Those who attend the special event and spend 1,100 yen on My Hero Academia-related merchandise will receive a random selection of one of six postcards featuring the kimono-wearing heroes. However, those who meet the previous requirements and bring a My Hero Academia: You’re Next ticket stub with them will receive an additional postcard.
My Hero Academia’s Original Story Is at the Beginning of the End
Although the My Hero Academia anime franchise is still going strong with the upcoming movie and the current airing of Season 7, the original story by Kohei Horikoshi is nearing its end. Currently, the manga is in an epilogue state after the dramatic conclusion of the “Final War” story arc. The apparent end of the My Hero Academia manga comes just after the series achieved an impressive milestone of over 100 million copies in circulation.
