Mayor opens exhibition showcasing students’ artwork
The show, presented by Seasons Art Warrington Students at Warrington Sports Club, featured around 100 paintings and was attended by Mayor Mo Hussain and the Mayoress.
The exhibition included watercolour, acrylic, pastel, and pencil, with subjects ranging from city scenes to wildlife.
Mayor Hussain said: “It was a real pleasure to attend and officially open The Seasons Art Warrington student’s exhibition at the Warrington Sports Club this afternoon.
“Over the past 14 weeks, artists of all abilities have explored a wonderful range of techniques, and the creativity is a real credit to everyone involved.
“Events like this show how powerful the arts are in bringing people together and supporting wellbeing.

“A special thank you to former Mayor of Warrington, Geoff Settle, who is also one of the exhibiting artists and proudly shared his own artwork with me, a stary night polar bear in acrylic.
“It was also inspiring to meet Gordon Boyle, who is colour blind yet creates beautifully vibrant watercolours, using brushes and pencils labelled with colours to support his work, truly remarkable.
“My thanks to the organisers, tutors, and Warrington Sports Club, and congratulations to all the artists.
“You should be very proud.”

The Mayor was introduced to the three artists who instruct the students: Yaroslav Yasenev, Joolz, and class leader Maria Thornton.
Ms Thornton said: “There is always a great atmosphere in the sessions we hold and all levels are welcome.
“Unfortunately, the Christmas Exhibition is only on for a day but there will be another at the end of spring term next year to look forward to.”
She also invited the Mayoress to join the group in the future.

Ms Thornton said: “Your work is really good, and you are more than welcome to join us next year when you have finished your mayoral engagements.”
Ms Thornton confirmed that classes will resume on January 13 and 15, with another exhibition planned for the end of the spring term.
The exhibition showcased the progress and creativity of students who attend weekly three-hour art sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
