Kalki 2898 AD is one of the biggest movies of the year. Boasting an ensemble cast including Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan and Disha Patani, the film will be released on June 27. Ahead of the release, a recent controversy has marred the film. A South Korean concept illustrator has accused the makers of copying an artwork of his done 10 years ago.
Netizens demand illustrator to sue Kalki 2898 AD makers
The makers of Kalki 2898 AD unveiled the film’s trailer on June 10. The visuals show a post-apocalyptic world in a science-fiction setting. Days after the trailer release, Sung Choi, a concept illustrator and designer who has collaborated with Marvel Studios, Disney, and Warner Bros took to his Instagram account to accuse the makers of plagiarising his work.
Taking a screengrab of the first frame in the film’s trailer, the designer posted it against his artwork posted 10 years back. Sharing the still he wrote, “Unauthorized use of the artwork is a bad practice. I sometimes even question doing art in this lawless environment (sic).” As soon as he shared the post, several social media users took to the comment section demanding the artist sue the production company of Kalki 2898 AD, Vyjyanthi Movies. The netizens shared that he should pursue legal routes against the makers.

Set in the dystopian future world of Kashi, the story revolves around the people’s longing for a better life. Ashwatthama, portrayed by Amitabh Bachchan, meets with Deepika Padukone’s character in an effort to improve their living conditions. The plot takes a new turn with the entrance of Bhairava, played by Prabhas, whose involvement brings new challenges and assistance to their cause.
The film boasts an excellent background score and extraordinary visuals. The fight scenes featuring Bhairava and Ashwatthama are particularly impressive. Additionally, the presence of Kamal Haasan, Disha Patani, and other prominent characters enhances the film’s appeal.
