Hunter x Hunter’s Yoshihiro Togashi Dips Into Horror With Resident Evil Artwork
Yoshihiro Togashi, the famed creator behind Hunter x Hunter, has been rallying up fans lately with exciting updates about the series that’s long been on hiatus. Now, he’s extending his reach with artwork dedicated to one of the best-selling PlayStation horror franchises of all time.
Togashi recently uploaded an illustration of the first Resident Evil game on his official X account (formerly Twitter), as seen below. The artwork features a horrifying image of the classic Resident Evil zombie, along with headshots of Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine, Barry Burton and Rebecca Chambers. As longtime Resident Evil fans know, the 1996 PlayStation game by Capcom set the stage for future horror titles with its engaging gameplay and cinematic presentation. Although some of its questionable line deliveries (“You were almost a Jill Sandwich”) and the full-motion video intro may now come off as cheesy, the scares made through its haunting atmosphere and monster designs remain effective to this day.
Hunter x Hunter Creator Reveals “Rookie” Original Draft Images of His First-Ever Shonen Jump Series
Hunter x Hunter creator Yoshihiro Togashi reveals original manga panels from his early day during his first-ever Shonen Jump series, Wicked Cupid.
The timing of Togashi’s Resident Evil fan art couldn’t be more perfect. Recently, it was reported that Capcom is working on new Resident Evil remakes of two beloved games in the series. The reliable rumor suggests that Resident Evil 0 and Code Veronica are about to get next-gen remakes. Resident Evil fans have been yearning for an updated release of Code Veronica ever since Capcom started remaking its Resident Evil games during the Nintendo GameCube era. However, Resident Evil 0 was a former GameCube exclusive that looked and played similarly to games like the 2002 Resident Evil remake and the original Resident Evil 4. If true, this development by Capcom is an interesting follow-up to its successful remake of Resident Evil 4 on PlayStation, Xbox and PC.
Hunter x Hunter’s Yoshihiro Togashi Continues to Provide Positive Updates on the Manga
Meanwhile, Togashi has been giving Hunter x Hunter fans encouraging updates on his health and the status of the Shonen Jump series. Although Hunter x Hunter is an ongoing series, the manga has suffered from constant hiatuses caused by Togashi’s poor health. In the past, the manga creator has opened up about his health struggles, revealing the difficulty of drawing for long periods of time and being able to physically take care of himself. Despite years of little progress in the story, Hunter x Hunter fans remain patient and sympathetic toward Togashi’s well-being, whose most recent online posts have been illustration drafts for the next chapter in the manga.
