Hidden river celebrated with immersive artwork

October 2, 2025 One Min Read

A hidden river which runs through south Bristol is being celebrated by the local community.

Bedminster residents came together to record the sounds of the river Malago for a piece of music created by composer Liam Taylor-West.

Called A River’s Song, the music will be played at an immersive installation of light and sound hosted at Philip Street Chapel in Bedminster.

Mr Taylor-West said: “The river is not that obvious as it’s either underground or down deep channels so the idea came about to draw attention to it in the hope that people might take a bit more care of it.”
