David Corenswet’s Birthday Celebrated With Superman Artwork
Davi Alves reshared a piece of Superman fan art for leading man David Corenswet’s birthday. Alves is no stranger to the Superman mythos, as he had previously done fan posters for the characters from Superman, including Superman himself.
The artwork in question sees Corenswet’s Man of Steel holding a birthday cake while a word balloon next to him has text that reads, “Happy Birthday Superman!” Above him is a Superman: Legacy title card, which has text above it that reads, “A James Gunn Story.” In the description, Alves professed, “I had made this art a while ago, and I’m reposting it today to say: Happy birthday, Mr. Corenswet.”

Ti West addresses the small part he played in the casting of David Corenswet in James Gunn’s Superman.
Tying into the Superman: Legacy title card, Superman writer-director and DC Studios co-head James Gunn delved into why the movie dropped its Legacy subtitle, conveying that everyone agreed that Superman “felt like the right name” when he brought it up to them, going on to further note, “[There] really hasn’t been a movie titled SUPERMAN since the [1978] movie was solely promoted as Superman: The Movie.”
“I had made this art a while ago, and I’m reposting it today to say: Happy birthday, Mr. Corenswet.”

When they first read together it was like magic. What a wonderful year it’s been with two of the most extraordinary, vibrant, and meticulous actors I’ve ever had the opportunity to work with. I can’t wait for you to see them on screen in just a little over a year.”

David Corenswet’s Last Son of Krypton takes center stage in a Superman fan poster by Jhonny Geek.
Putting the spotlight on Superman itself, Gunn discussed how Christopher Reeve’s Metropolis Marvel influenced his Superman in 2023, avowing at the time, “How do you make it look believable? How do you take this outrageous concept of a guy who flies around and turn him into something real? I think that, you know, what we’re doing is different. It’s its own thing. But I’m definitely influenced by what [director Richard] Donner did with Superman, and what Christopher Reeve did with Superman, and Margot Kidder, who’s fantastic in the movie. She’s really the heart of it in a lot of ways.”
