Brentwood schoolchildren’s art on display at development

March 29, 2024 One Min Read

The artwork by pupils at Willowbrook and St Joseph the Worker primary schools is on show at Brookfield Close in Hutton.

The development is the first council ‘zero carbon’ scheme with construction getting under way in the summer.

“The pupils’ artwork is full of their ideas and creativity,” the council’s housing chairman Dr Tim Barrett said. “We are working with schools throughout the construction to have pupils involved from the start.”

The art project gives youngsters “meaningful involvement in shaping the future” of their environments.

It is being included in the council’s ‘small sites’ housing programme for 185 new homes in the town at ‘zero carbon’ standard.

The first stage is to transform the “underused area of housing and garages” at Brookfield Close into 62 new homes made up of 16 family-size houses, some with four bedrooms, and 46 flats.
